When I was a child I used to travel around Europe with my parents. We were going around for about two months a year. Those were unique opportunities to appreciate all the most beautiful and majestic corners of the continent. Being charmed by the sight of certain places and landscapes was quite predictable for the little child I was.

I was often looking at my mother and other tourists taking pictures or videos of families, children, and in general of human subjects, and I couldn't understand why none of them were shooting places, atmospheres or landscapes.

So during one of many trips I secretly took the my mother's old film camera. It was 1991, I was just nine years old back then. We were traveling through France and I was fascinated by the sight of a beautiful castle that overlooked the sea: I had my mind set up on capturing the beautiful scenery that I was looking at.

The desire to make that memory go beyond my remembrance was uncontainable. In that moment I shot some pictures randomly, with no idea about composition, exposure, and so on. As soon as I did that, I took care of cautiously putting the camera back where I had taken it.
Today, 25 years later, I found the pictures I took back in those trips but mostly I found that first shot.
